Revell 1/72 Type VIIC U-Boat

Submarines fascinate many of us. Maybe it’s the technology, or the cleverness of the concept, or the brave, hard-work of the crew. I dunno.

The USN Gato class (/Balao/Tench) was an amazing boat, eventually becoming “modern” as a Guppy (and it is a stunning 1/72 scale Revell model, too). But the German Type VIIC was a workhorse, and a sweet little number. Just look at those lines! For a few years VIICs made a huge impact.

I bought a Revell Type VIIC as soon as possible, and after finishing off some projects over many months, finally began construction in the beginning of September 2005. I finished February 2008 (because contsruction took me down side roads). If you’re interested, have a look at how I built mine.

There are many excellent builds by other modellers in the Gallery section, so don’t miss those, especially Glenn Cauley’s U 673 and U 625 at www.travel-net.com/~gcauley/U673/.
